My system has periods where it locks up and I can't move the cursor. During this time the small system explorer window shows no activity tasks bu the hard drive light is on solid.Suggestions?

I experienced this issue twice in my life...in both cases it was caused by unreadable sectors on hard disk. Please check the hard disk for errors.
